What is claimed as the world’s first 5K porn movie site has been online for a little while, with a still quite small selection of movies, but which do look to be premium quality and feature some big names. The site, named unconfusingly 5KPorn.com, doesn’t appear to have updated with new content since the start of the year.
To market a site around ‘5K’ porn seems an interesting decision, given that 4K porn is still slowly growing and the next step up is commonly considered to be 8K porn, with the first 8K TVs coming on to the market last year.
There are however, a number of 5K monitors on the market these days. 5K porn, will of course, look better than 4K porn on the more common 8K screens. I also believe that many high-end smartphones now have 5K or even better resolution. The problem with this is that it is widely accepted that for the human eye to really notice such incredibly high resolutions, both the screen has to be of a minimum size and the eyes must be sufficiently close to the screen.
Technically, 5K is around 7 times the resolution of conventional high-defintion – the standard that most of your 2D porn comes in.
But is 5KPorn.com even the first 5K porn site? Most of the top virtual reality porn pay sites now film in 5K, or even 6K in the case of VRBangers. Of course, in a VR headset, the resolution is split between the two eyes, so it is effectively halved. What you’re seeing is still less than ultra-hd, even in the case of VR Bangers. I’m not sure if any of the top sites could release their content in 2D 5K format. I know that Reality Lovers films both in POV and voyeur mode, with the latter presumably making it easier to film in a way that could potentially enable standard 2D versions of their content too. As far as I’m aware, they do not release their 5K content in 2D, however.
Choosing to market ‘5K porn’ is certainly a brave decision, and something that one would suppose might have a relatively brief shelf-life. Lets hope, therefore, that we see some more updates at 5KPorn.com soon.
