A little-known tech company took the Internet by storm earlier this year with the demo release of their astonishingly natural and convincing AI chatbot. You can choose between a male or a female voice, with the female calling herself ‘Maya’. You can try the demo for free, and it leaves most people’s minds blown. She’s highly intelligent, has a great memory, and chats in realtime in a way that is 100% natural – including pausing before answers, apologizing for interrupting you, sometimes even clearing her throat and such. Sadly, not long after the launch, Sesame AI introudced ‘guardrails’ to Maya, disabling Maya’s ability to engage in sexy conversation. However, she is still more realistic than any other chatbot or AI companion out there, and if nothing else, hints at how realistic real-time voice chat with AI girlfriends is going to become very soon.
An alternative to Sesame’s Maya is Unmute.ch. This is largely uncensored, and you can give her whatever personality, scenario, or instructions you want. You can even upload a voice for the AI character to clone. The other alternative is, of course, Grok’s new anime AI chatbog ‘Ani’ (below).
