Earlier this year, Sam Altman made the surprise announcement (via a post on X) that ‘erotica’ would be allowed for verified adult users starting from December. Whilst a powerful new version of ChatGPT was launched yesterday (5.2) it sadly did not come with any adult feature. And during a briefing to journalists on the new model, Fidji Simo, who is OpenAI’s CEO of Applications, stated that theadult mode is now expected in the first quarter of next year. The reason for the delay is that the company want to perfect their forthcoming age verification feature, so that U18s are correctly identified without mistaking adult users for minors.
No further information has been revealed as to how sexy OpenAI is prepared to go with its NSFW version of ChatGPT. It will likely be similar to Elon Musk’s ‘spicy’ modes that allow for explicit chat, a sexy AI companion feature, and fairly tame ‘adult’ image and video generation. However, once xAI’s Grok has some big tech competition in this regard, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if they futher loosen their own guardrails to stay ahead.
Samsung Galaxy XR the perfect HMD for Porn?
Meanwhile, there are still exciting developments taking place in the field of XR (VR and AR). Whilst there has been no new Meta Quest headset this year, and only a processor upgrade for the Apple Vision Pro, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy XR in October, built in collaboration with Google and running the new Android XR system for virtual and augmented reality. A high-end device similar to the Apple Vision Pro, but at around half-the-price ($1,799). But it’s a new feature announced this week that might get immersive porn fans excited. Android XR is getting an AI upgrade that can turn any 2D content, web, photo, video, app, including games streamed from your PC, into 3D in real-time.
Also announced this week was a pair of augmented reality glasses from XREAL running on android XR and slated for release next year. Named the XREAL Aura, they will (according to RoadToVR) be “the first pair of see-through glasses running the full-blown immersive version of Android XR”.
If that isn’t enough exciting XR news for you, Google is also rolling out photorealistic ‘likeness’ avatars on Android XR to Compete with Apple’s ‘Personas’. The initial scan to create the avatar is simpler than Apple’s too, with just a suitable Samsung Galaxy phone needed. Another step closer perhaps to remote virtual sex between photorealistic avatars.
