In what might be seen by many to be a controversial move, top VR porn aggregator site SexLikeReal has announced via Reddit that they are working to make deepfake VR porn a reality. It’s not clear whether they mean the swapping of VR pornstar’s faces with each other, or with celebrities, or that of ordinary women, but the claim came in a now deleted Reddit thread created by a Quest 2 owner who wanted to know if apps existed to swap the faces of VR porn actresses with his ex-gf’s. A representative of SexLikeReal reslied to the heavily downvoted OP’s post with the claim that they ‘have it in the pipeline’ and are ‘looking for the right people to get it running’.
Although there are a few such adult face swap apps out there, none can do VR porn scenes very well. A deepfake porn site or app that enabled high quality face swapping for VR scenes would be sure to prove highly controversial, and likely to be picked up by the mainstream media as proof of an even more urgent need to ban the tech. Currently, deepfake porn remains legal to create in most countries, although several Asian countries, including South Korea, have harsh penalties for doing so for even personal use. The UK is set to make it illegal to share non-consensual deepfake porn very soon. Given that SexLikeReal were recently spooked enough to consider converting into a ‘sexual wellness site’, after credit card companies Visa and Mastercard pulled out of PornHub and other porn paysites, I can’t realistically see them going through with this, although no doubt apps for deepfake VR porn will appear soon nonetheless.
At the end of last year, SexLikeReal published a very interesting list of what they were working on in 2023 to ensure that they were the future of VR porn. Utilizing AI, for things like making every video passthrough optimized, featured heavily. One item in the list, did appear to suggest a deepfake type use, but certainly entirely legitimately.
We’ll be adding voice synthesis using AI so that performers will speak your scripted words in their own voices (this will likely be short phrases).
There are, of course, such legitimate and exciting uses of deepfake tech for VR porn. Couples could spice up their sex lives by consensually using each other’s faces to swap with pornstars in scenes. Perhaps soon it will become standard for you to choose the face of your favorite porn actress to be experienced in any scene. Aging actresses such as Gina Gerson, who still have amazing bodies, could use their own younger faces to extend their careers.
