One of the perks about being a sex tech blogger is that I occasionally get offered products to review. Last month, Norwegian sex toy company Ohdoki very kindly sent me the much anticipated successor to their famous Handy masturbator that had long been the most popular VR porn syncing toy on the market. The Handy 2 has a lot to live up to – is it a real upgrade to the original, and how does it compare to the latest generation of haptic masturbators from the likes of Lovense and Kiiroo? After several weeks of extensive testing (and having a lot of fun!), I’m ready to deliver my honest verdict.

Differences Between the Handy 2 and Handy 2 Pro
As you can see from the photo above, I was fortunate to have been sent The Handy 2 Pro edition. That’s right, the new Handy comes in two versions – a standard and a pro model. The two are physically identical in dimension but differ in the material of the body, internal components, performance capabilities, and included accessories. The core performance difference lies in the motor and power systems. The Standard model’s motor delivers a speed range of 32–400 mm/s, whilst the Pro model’s more powerful motor increases the standard top speed to 450 mm/s. The Pro also features an “overclocking” mode, which enables it to reach speeds of up to 800 mm/s. This translates to up to 1200 strokes per minute for those brave enough to experience it. Overclocking also invalidates your warranty.
Battery life is another major difference between the two. The Standard version is equipped with a 2000 mAh Li-ion battery, providing approximately one hour of use per charge. The Pro version contains a larger 3200 mAh Li-ion battery, extending the operational time to a claimed five hours.
To further differentiate the premium offering, the Handy 2 Pro includes premium bearings and a Teflon-coated lead screw to reduce operational noise and enhance smoothness. It also ships with a fabric storage pouch and a dedicated sleeve dryer, which are not included with the Standard model. The price difference is quite substantial between the two, with the Handy 2 Pro around 50% more expensive.
Here is a useful video from the official Handy YouTube channel which explains the differences.
A Huge Upgrade for VR Porn Fans
I doubt if Ohdoki consider VR porn fans are the main market for the Handy 2, but it’s certainly the case that some of the upgrades to the toy are just what we were looking for. Perhaps the most significant is that the new Handy is completely battery powered, unlike the original which required an inconvenient and immersion killing cord and plug. The new sleeker design of the Handy 2 makes it both comfortable and easy to grip – something that is essential when using it in VR. In fact, it’s one of the most pleasing to handle masturbators of this type that I’ve used. A third important feature for immersion in VR is that it’s significantly quieter than both its predecessor and its closest rivals such as the Lovense Max 2. The noise only starts to get intrusive at the higher speeds, which you probably wont be using anyway when syncing with porn videos.
The strap that attaches the sleeve to the main body of the Handy 2 has also been improved, now coming with a soft dotted texture that provides for a more secure grip. This is also important when using in VR when you wont be able to see the Handy. It’s quite easy too to adjust the attachment to tighten or loosen it, and thereby adjusting the “squeeze” your penis feels inside the sleeve.
One other important new feature that the Handy 2 boasts is an LED display which shows not only battery life, but the speed and stroke length. This is more useful when you are not syncing it with VR or any other porn videos, as you will be more likely to want to use the excellent smartphone app. I did find the LED to be a bit dim unless in a darkened room, and will be hard to see and make out when watching passthrough porn.
Something that many VR porn fans would consider essential for any porn syncing toy like this is a handsfree desk mount. This allows you to sit back and enjoy, and also frees your hands for the VR controllers. And when you already have a bulky VR headset strapped to your face, something that at least lightens the load on your arms is to be welcomed. As mentioned above, I was sent Ohdoki’s own brand handsfree mount. This costs around $50 and I found it to be quite adequate, but if you are looking for something even more secure, there are plenty of professional camera mount options on Amazon for similar or slightly higher prices. I often see the Monfretto Magic Arm recommended on VR porn forums, although I haven’t tried it myself. The important thing is that (unlike the original Handy) the Handy 2 comes with integrated 1/4-inch screw mounts, meaning you can easily fit any number of different desktop mounts to it.
My Honest Thoughts After A Month Testing the Handy 2 Pro
I’ve been testing the Handy 2 Pro for over a month, and I’ve had so much fun that I’ll no doubt be continuing to use it for many more months to come. So these aren’t my final thoughts and I’ll refine them as I go along, but for now, these are my honest and essential takeaways.
The case of the Handy 2 Pro feels really good to hold. Unless you are using a handsfree mount, this tactile quality is important, especially the longer your masturbation session goes on.
The own brand handsfree desk mount was very easy to attach and worked well enough, although I don’t really have the setup in my bedroom to make it worthwhile. Although I haven’t tried any other handsfree mount, the built-in screw mounts mean that you should be able to attach any standard desk mount to it.
The Handy smartphone app is very easy to use and comes with useful “live demonstration” tutorials on how to change the speed and the stroke length.
The Handy 2 is very quiet, and only starts to become slightly noisy at the highest speeds. The stroking motion is also very smooth at both low and high speeds.
I found the stroke length and speed to synch very impressively with both the 2D and the VR porn videos I have tried (using scripts).
In conclusion, I would not hesitate to recommend the Handy 2 Pro for those looking to sync with porn videos, and in particular VR porn. The original Handy was the most popular porn syncing toy for adult VR fans and you’ve got to give Ohdaki credit for listening to their feedback and making the Handy 2 not merely an upgrade but a next generation VR porn toy.
