There’s been a shortage of good sex robot videos on YouTube recently, but I did come across this gem – an irreverent and humorous, yet actually very informative guide to the history of sex robots, in a cartoon presentation. Starting from the origin of the dream of artificial women with the Greek myth of Pygmalion, it even includes the origin of sex dolls in the ‘Dutch Wives’ of the 17th century, as well as throwing in a few interesting and rarely known facts such as that the famous Barbie doll was actually based upon a popular German sex doll. If you’re interested in learning more about the history of sex robots, including sex dolls, then I recommend the classic book by David Levy on the subject – ‘Love And Sex With Robots‘.
