Aura AI Robot Head Impressed at AVN Expo 2026

The annual AVN Expo, which is an adult industry version of the CES, was held in January and perhaps the most eye-catching stand was the one showcasing a new talking AI robotic head from China named “Aura”. Whilst the facial gestures, lipsyncing, and head “movement” isn’t anything new, the AI conversation does appear very natural. A caveat is that it’s acknowledged that the AI can learn from previous questions, and the same questions are put to it in every demo that I’ve seen.

Perhaps the most noteworthy thing about Aura, though, is it’s price – coming in at under $3,000, which is in the same category as a typical premium sex doll from China. And the price tag (at DollPimp.com) does come with a realistic sex doll body that the head can be joined with.

As I’ve remarked upon here recently, it does seem that 2026 will be the year in which AI girlfriends start to take a more embodied form, whether that is in the shape of sex dolls with robotic heads, 3D desktop companions, live video chat, or AR and VR girlfriends. The arrival of “sex robots” will not be an overnight thing, but rather a gradual process and part of the overall trend towards “embodiment”.

Aura is made by Chinese company “Jiggly Joe”, who appear to have previously only manufactured realistic sex doll torsos. “Doll Pimp” is the only sex doll site that is selling it as far as I can see and were also the brand that showcased the head at the AVN Expo. The blog of Doll Pimp contains quite a bit of info about Aura. There are quite a few customizable features of “Aura”, whose name can be changed to whatever the owner chooses. Memory customization is available, as well as a choice of “scenario”. This latter feature appears designed to enable Aura to be used for non-intimate purposes such as a “hotel front desk”. And, of course, like all or most premium sex dolls, physical features can be customized too.

Rather worryingly, Jiggly Joe (or Doll Pimp) feel obliged to carry a disclaimer that the doll is not intended to replace a real human companion.

The Emotional Balance Question

Jiggly Joy directly addresses emotional dependency concerns.

Aura is designed as a supplement to life — not a replacement for human relationships.

She provides support and companionship while encouraging real-world social engagement.

That messaging is important in a market increasingly discussing AI companionship ethics.

Perhaps understandable in the current context of increasing attacks upon and regulation over AI companions, but it’s somewhat disturbing nonetheless, and highlights the fact that just because the tech for real AI sex robots is only a few years away, it’s still in the balance as to whether the “powers-that-be” will allow us to have them.
