When viewing VR videos on a 2D screen rather than inside a 3D VR headset, there is a noticeable fish eye effect in which body parts get distorted the closer they are to the camera. For example, if a girl ‘kisses you’ in VR, watching on a 2D screen will produce the disconcerting effect of her face, and in particular her nose, becoming distorted to the point of ugliness. Similarly, butts become huge and so on. This fish eye effect does unfortunately still persist to a small degree even when viewed in VR, although as filming techniques and skills improve, it can be diminished further. However, any attempt to ‘de-fish-eye’ VR videos is to be welcomed, as not only will VR videos be fully enjoyable in 2D, the tech might be usable to make VR videos themselves more realistic and distortion free in VR. And enabling VR videos to be enjoyed more in 2D would not only allow potential VR customers from viewing VR trailers on a flat screen, it would open up VR studios to potentially selling their content as regular 2D porn as well. This would also be interesting for high-tech porn fans, as most of the sites are now shooting their porn in 5K or even 6K, and the first 8K televisions are already on sale.
So leading site SexLikeReal tried their hands at de-fish-eyeing a couple of VR videos and published their results. And the results are pretty good, especially as they chose videos which are close up and intimate and very much POV (I imagine it would be a lot easier to do this for ‘voyeur’ VR videos of the kind that Reality Lovers produce).
