New York University Professor Sounds Alarm Over Impact Of AI Sex Bots

Scot Galloway on AI sex bots causing young men to have less sex

A professor at New York University has sounded the alarm over the rise of ‘AI sex bots’ that he claims are causing young men to drop out of the dating market, along with increasing pornography consumption. Scott Galloway, who is the Stern School of Business marketing professor, went as far to suggest that schools start teaching boys the fundamentals of ‘mating dynamics’, in order that they can learn how to approach women and start meaningful relationships with real people.

Speaking on the ‘Diary Of A CEO’ podcast, Galloway argued that “We are developing these digital analogs of life that create low-entry, low-risk relationships. You think that’s not a bad thing, well it is because it leads to loneliness and depression”.

AI companions like Replika have been around for several years, but it’s only quite recently that they have exploded in popularity with the advances in AI that ChatGPT ushered in. It’s too early to say what impact they are having on young men, despite what the hysterical media would like to have you believe. Perhaps AI girlfriends will lead men to becoming both more motivated to find a real partner, and more skilled in doing so. After all, AI girlfriends still can’t give you a blowjob, or even a cuddle. In the meantime, they are teaching lonely young men how rewarding having a companion can be, as well as giving them practice in texting and communicating.

AI boyfriends for young women are proving almost as popular as AI sex bots for men, but naturally, Galloway doesn’t have anything to say about them. He does, however, make the surprising claim that young men’s increasing lack of social and sexual skills are leading young women to prefer more experienced older men. As a male who falls into that category, that sounds good to me!
