It seems that augmented reality porn is now becoming a real thing, with an adult site – ARConk – offering an impressive demo available to download for Android smartphones. The app promises to place an animated (3D scanned) pornstar into your living room/real world environment. Although ARConk aren’t the first to try this, they do seem to be much further ahead in producing a working demo that any other site has managed thus far. Whilst there is pretty much no disagreement that VirtualRealPorn was the first VR porn site to go online, when the history of AR porn comes to be written, it might not be so clear as to which company was the founding father. ARConk, however, does look likely to be winning the race, if it hasn’t already, to produce the first definitive adult conent in AR.
Currently, the demo only works on AR enabled Android smartphones, as well as ‘Holokit‘, which is a low cost cardboard augmented reality headset, a kind of AR version of Google Cardboard.
As well as the animated pornstar, ARConk are set to offer their app users the chance to have their photo taken with virtual pornstars. A third intriguing feature is the ‘Sexy Coach’ which allows users to learn yoga or simply physical exercises with a sexy virtual coach. Perhaps this is also opening the door to utilizing the tech (apparently developed in association with free vr tube site LaidHub.com) for more mainstream purposes.
It’s no secret that the VR porn industry has not lived up to early expectations, despite an explosive start, and VR site memberships have been fairly flat or even declining for a couple of years now. Mark Zuckerberg ruefully commented this week that his promise to have ‘one billion people in VR’ has fallen short so far by 99%. The difference with augmented reality is that very soon, virtually all smartphones will feature it, and over a billion people will be in AR and represent a market for porn apps like this.

“We did some tests and people are actually fascinated about the capabilities of our AR tech,” said Jerome Balzac, the developer of the ARConk app, in a statement. “Right now we came up with two unique AR experiences: one of them is just a 3D scan of a girl; and the other one is a real and fully interactive 3D AR video of a sexy pornstar. It pretty much means that you can walk around her, watch her from every angle, get closer (or further) to/from her.”
The ARConk user does not have to have an expensive Magic Leap or Microsoft HoloLens AR headset to watch these encounters. You can view via a Holokit AR Cardboard, which is a really budget-friendly solution. Or you can use a modern smartphone.
“Yes, AR might be still a bit far, and the entire technology is still catching up, but we really want to be ready for the future,” Gecko said. “Soon enough more and more people should be involved in this tech, so we need to be as proactive as possible and try to be a one step ahead as far as we can. We believe that in the future, when other companies will get to our level, we will already have a large variety of different experiences waiting for our followers, and that is why the early stage of the ARConk project is so important.”
