A swirl of rumors has been circulating recently regarding the Apple VR AR headset that is expected to be officially revealed soon. We may now know the name of the device – ‘Apple Reality One’ or ‘Apple Reality Pro’. At least, that is, according to speculation over trademarks filed last month by corporations tied to Apple. And that’s just what might be the first of no less than three headsets to be released by Apple in the not so distant future. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the first headset is the product expected to be revealed as early as January, and named ‘Apple Reality Pro’. It will compete directly with the forthcoming Meta Quest Pro, and is expected to cost up to $3,000. A cheaper version of the Reality Pro, named ‘Reality One’, would be released within a year of the pro version, alongside a second generation of the Apple Reality Pro. On top of this, Apple are allegedly working on a pair of AR glasses, although the release date of that groundbreaking product might not be until 2024 or even 2025.

The VR headset market has been rather quiet for the last 2 years, since the successful launch of the Oculus Quest 2 in October 2020 (now been re-branded as the Meta Quest 2). We know for certain now that Meta themselves will release the Quest Pro next month. After that, we will be eagerly awating the launch of the new PlayStation VR headset – the PSVR 2. Sony have recently confirmed that it will be released in ‘early 2022’. That will be the same timeframe as we expect the Apple Reality Pro headset to be officially revealed. Alongside these, we may have a new standalone VR headset from HTC, as well as new headsets from smaller companies during 2022.
With all these VR headsets set to hit the consumer market over the next year, the sale trajectory of VR headsets is naturally expected to explode in 2023 and beyond. Currently, it is estimated that over 90% of VR headsets sold are the Meta Quest 2. This will certainly change significantly in 2023.
The Impact Of The First Apple Virtual Reality Headset On The VR Porn Industry
According to a respected analyst who usually gets it right regarding new Apple products, the company expects to ship 1.5 million of its Reality headsets in 2023, despite a predicted $2K+ price tag. One and a half million might not sound a lot, not at least when you consider they sell around 200 million iPhones each year.
