Even in the crude B&W passthrough of the Quest 2, it looks great, or at least you can see the potential. And the hand tracking which allows you to ‘touch’ the girl as she is performing in front of you might be the biggest attraction of this type of mixed reality VR porn. Applied to interactive cgi VR porn, it’s surely going to be huge.
Excitingly, it appears that it wasn’t difficult at all for SexLikeReal to achieve this. According to a rep of the company, all they did was take a regular VR porn video and remove the background via depth maps. Apparently, it’s a simple process, and SLR (and presumably any other VR porn studio) can apply it to almost any VR porn video.
The release date of the much awaited Project Cambria headset from Meta, expected to be named the Meta Quest Pro, has still not been announced. Analysts expect it to be released in September or October. And it might have some top quality competition in the mixed reality VR porn space very soon after. A top analyst known for making accurate predictions regarding Apple product releases, claimed this week that the mythical Apple AR/VR headset will finally be released in January. It’s expected that that headset will have even higher definition ‘passthrough’ than the Quest Pro (althoug it is expected to be pricier).
It’s exciting stuff. As one Redditor put it on seeing the SexLikeReal clip – “Seriously, in a similar way I feel like we’re watching the infancy of bitcoin, or youtube, etc. This is some new stuff! I can’t even imagine how immersive it will be in the future.”
