Badoink studio have launched their own passthrough porn studio. The videos of ‘PassthroughVR’ will be featured at their site RealVR.com. Three videos have so far been released since the official launch two weeks ago. The studio also plans to use AI to convert some of their classic content from BadoinkVR, 18VR, and VRCosplayX, into passthrough format.
When the Meta Quest 3 was launched over a year ago, I predicted that passthrough porn would rapidly gain in popularity and that we would see a number of dedicated sites spring up, as well as established studios filming their own passthrough content. After all, passthrough videos were already becoming a popular sub-niche within VR porn, despite only being viewable in the crude B&W passthrough of the Quest 2 headset. I’m usually reliable when it comes to sex and porn tech predictions, but admittedly things haven’t gone quite as quickly as I had expected. We did see the launch of Czech AR, but after a few months of regular releases, the site has not updated since June. However, a few passthrough studios have sprung up that feature on aggregator sites such as VRPorn and SexLikeReal. And both of those sites host their own exclusive passthrough videos (for most of the last couple of years, filmed by the same studio – Simsense Media).
RealVR is itself an aggregator VR porn site, that houses mostly older videos from the Badoink stable of sites. The passthrough porn videos thus far released appear to be a curious mix of true passthrough and AI passthrough. The first release, featuring Raven Lane and called ‘The Breakthrough Bang’, is clearly filmed for passthrough mode. The studio appears to be strikingly similar, or even identical, with that of Simsense Media, used for the passthrough videos of VRPorn.com and SexLikeReal. The second video, ‘A Blossoming Bargain’, featuring Blake Blossom, is an AI post-production conversion to passthrough of a VR porn video by the same name released by BadoinkVR in July. However, the third video, a VR cosplay porn parody of Pokemon Violet starring Molly Little, is what appears to be a true passthrough video, that was given an AI background and released under the same name earlier this year, at VRCosplayX. Badoink’s ‘AR porn’ Has Been Promised For Years
Longtime readers and VR porn fans may recall that this isn’t the first time the Badoink studios have launched an ‘AR porn’ site. In 2020 they announced ‘BadoinkAR‘, which was housed on the BadoinkAR.com domain. This was a true AR porn site, with volumetric-scanned 3D pornstars you could view from every angle, like holograms. Unfortunately, the site remained in a free ‘beta’ stage and never updated on the handful of demos it offered. A couple of years ago it was seemingly abandoned altogether, and the domain name redirects to BadoinkVR.com. It’s interesting that Badoink has called their new passthrough studio ‘PassthroughVR’ rather than using AR as most Passthrough studios are doing, including CzechAR. Perhaps it is because they haven’t abandoned their volumetric hologram porn project after all?
