VR Bangers are undoubtedly one of the top VR porn studios, releasing at least one new high quality 8K movie a week, as well as one at their sister site VR Conk. They, and in particular their CEO Daniel Abramovich, do have a history of generating publicity with exciting sex tech promises, with one noteable example being last year’s ‘Smell VR’ attachment. This allowed you to ‘smell the pornstars’ as you had sex with them in VR, and which quickly ‘sold out’, and has remained…’sold out’ ever since. So this week’s announcement that they plan to ‘intergrate its content into the metaverse’ quite possibly doesn’t mean anything of any significance at all, other than raising the interesting question as to what would consitute an ‘adult metaverse’, and the further queastion as to how will the existing VR porn studios intergrate themselves into it (if at all)? However, in the press release published or reported at Xbiz, their CEO did mention two concrete things.
Firstly, that the VR Bangers studio has the goal of filming in 12K VR. This is probably the minimum resolution ‘goal’ of every leading VR porn site. The Oculus (Meta) Quest 2 can deliver around 4K resolution (but for complicated reasons, 8K looks better than 4K video on it). Pimax are hoping to release a 12K VR headset later this year, and there are rumours that Apple’s much anticipated headset will display 16K video when finally released, hopefully this year too. So 12K is certainly not the end game for VR porn, although it’s the most obvioius next step up in resolution. And it should be noted that VR Bangers were the first to film in 6K VR, a position they held unchallenged for well over a year, when every other top site continued to release videos in 5K or even just 4K. However, some critics have claimed that not all VR porn touted as 8K was actually filmed in that resolution, but rather that several sites are digitally upgrading video filmed in a lower resolution such as 6K, to 8K.
Secondly, Abramovich spoke (a little vaguely) about hiring developers to ‘create a space’ where VR porn fans could share and discuss VR porn, and even ‘have sex with each other in virtual reality’. Something like this has already been tried by Naughty America, and somewhat surprisingly, recently abandoned just when Mark Zuckerberg’s metaverse ambitions began to be massively hyped. Any attempt at building an adult metaverse by VR Bangers would be hugely ambitious, given that they are starting from scratch, and Naughty America, an even bigger studio, has seemingly abandoned their project after years spent developing it. It’s difficult to see how existing live recorded VR porn can be ‘integrated’ in a metaverse in any case, which presumably will involve real time interactions between individuals using avatars.
The company is currently in the process of “creating a new camera rig to achieve an even better quality that would make their metaverse even more realistic,” explained a rep.
VR Bangers’ goal is to reach 12K ultra-high-definition virtual reality, according to the rep, although the current generation of VR headsets does not offer this resolution.
According to CEO Daniel Abramovich, the company has made significant investments in order to integrate its VR content into the metaverse, including hiring over 20 additional developers to create a space where adult VR enthusiasts “could actually meet and discuss VR porn and/or even have sex in virtual reality with each other.”
Abramovich explained that “some come into the meta to simply discuss the different quality or technology behind virtual reality porn and this is completely understandable. After all, sex in VR is completely different from regular porn, where people can only watch. Our users really love to give feedback — whether it is good or bad. 12K UHD is yet another step in VR Bangers’ evolution — and we have done a lot of these steps in the past.”
“We are going to request access to the Oculus metaverse since we believe that porn is actually one of the main reasons people really watch VR,” he added.
Abramovich also hopes to integrate major talent into VR Bangers’ metaverse operation in an interactive capacity. “These professional porn stars have fans all around the world and since normally they have to pay a lot of attention to their privacy in real life, in the virtual reality world they will not have to worry about anything,” he stated. “They will be able to interact with all their followers in a safe and realistic way.”
