Perennial VR porn favorite VR Bangers is celebrating 10 years at the cutting edge of the industry. The company’s journey began on October 31, 2014, when founders established the studio in a modest garage, initially experimenting with six custom GoPro rigs before upgrading to 16. “We literally sat in a garage and invented the future of adult VR” a rep told AVN website. Despite early challenges, VR Bangers made history by becoming the first studio to deliver 4K and then 6K resolution, setting them apart from competitors.
Whilst VR Bangers has no doubt been at the forefront of setting new industry standards, it’s sometimes been difficult to seperate this from the clever and brash marketing of co-founder and CEO Daniel Abramovich. For example, back in 2021 he proudly proclaimed the advent of ‘Smell VR‘, and promised a variety of different scents that could be added to your VR headset and ‘activated’ when watching a particular matching scene – such as the scent ‘teenage dreams’ for a scene featuring a teen pornstar. This either didn’t take off, or it was a marketing gimmick to begin with. They also released the first “12K VR porn movie” in 2023, but since then have only released one or two more in that resolution.
Still, it’s hard to dispute that the studio have been among the most inventive and ambitious in the industry over the last decade. Along with pioneering increased resolution standards, they purchased first VR Conk, and then the aggregator site VRPorn.com. And they are not backing down from their bold predictions and aspirations for the future either. The company told AVN that their plans include “continued advancements tailored to next-generation headsets, even higher resolutions, more elaborate scenes and exotic locations, deeper immersion through 6DOF experiences that allow viewers to move freely around performers and expanded augmented reality offerings that bring fantasies closer than ever.”
VR Bangers are not the oldest VR porn company. That honour belongs to VirtualRealPorn, who formed in Spain in 2013 and began releasing movies the next year under the website domain ‘OculusRealPorn’. At the time, the Oculus Rift was still a developer kit and most of their early releases would have been viewed with cardboard VR ‘goggles’ and then the Samsung Gear VR. Both Naughty America VR and Badoink VR launched in 2015.
