The Apple Vision Pro officially goes on sale today (February 2nd), and its long-awaited arrival looks set to revolutionize both VR and AR porn, and even the world of remote sex toys. The good news is that pre-orders have gone much better than many predicted, with 200,000 headsets already sold, despite the hefty price tag. In fact, because of that price tag ($3,499), it’s expected that Apple has already made significantly more revenue from Apple Vision Pro headset sales, than Meta has through Quest headset sales over the last month. If we consider what that means for the VR porn market, it’s possible that very soon, there will be more paying customers using the Apple Vison Pro than the Meta Quest 2 and 3, despite the disparity in the number of headsets sold. That’s because the people who are spending $3K+ on the Apple headset will think nothing of spending $100 on an annual VirtualRealPorn subscription. I predicted this very thing, back in June.
Finally, although the Apple Vision Pro, priced at $3499, is not expected to sell much more than a few hundred thousand units at most in its first year, don’t disregard the near-term impact it yet could still have on the VR and AR porn market. Although the numbers of buyers will be small, they are wealthy, tech-savvy individuals, for whom a $249 lifetime membership of a VR porn site such as VirtualRealPorn is absolutely nothing.
And it’s not just through a sudden increase in the number of VR/AR headset owners with high disposable income that the Apple Vision Pro will shake up the industry. It’s even going to benefit VR and AR porn fans who are owners of Meta Quest headsets. This week Meta announced a new software update for their headsets, which will allow ‘spatial videos’ filmed on the Apple Vision Pro to be viewable on a Quest 2 or 3. Although the price of an Apple headset is premium, it actually compares well with a professional VR camera system. Not only does it simplify the filming of VR porn (the camera is built into the headset), it goes beyond traditional stereoscopic VR, and is closer to light field tech. We could potentially see a huge increase in amateur VR porn (or amateur ‘spatial’ porn), and it will all be viewable on a Meta Quest headset. I would expect that, quite soon, there will be thousands of OnlyFans models filming spatial content with an Apple Vision Pro.
Also this week, the first specific integration for the Apple Vision Pro was announced by a sex tech company. Lovense, a premium remote sex toy company behind bestsellers such as the masturbator ‘Solace’, and the vibrator ‘Nora’, revealed that their app has been integrated to work with the Apple headset. Remarkably, Lovense have already capitalized on the particular motion gesture controls of the new headset, and incorporated them into their remote sex applications.
Through using the Lovense Remote app with the Apple Vision Pro, users can generate a real-time unique vibration frequency that controls their partners’ sex toys. If you or your partner have the Nora, Max 2, Calor and other long-distance toys from Lovense, they can be connected to your Apple Vision Pro for your relationship to reach new levels and heights of pleasure and connection.
Currently, the Lovense Remote app can connect to your toys via Bluetooth so you can use touch, sound and motion to play with yourself or your partner from anywhere using your smartphone. With the Apple Vision Pro, ‘Shaking’ or ‘Grab & Shake’ motions are available with this integration.
When talking of the upcoming Lovense and Apple Vision Pro integration, Dan Liu, CEO of Lovense explained that “thanks to spatial computing technology, in conjunction with the dedicated Lovense Remote app, users can fully experience the new mixed reality it brings.”
“This feature further enhances users’ immersion and interactive experiences when using Lovense toys,” explains Liu. “It’s a big step towards transforming how people experience long-distance intimacy, and Lovense will continue to innovate in creating more emotionally connected experiences for couples, regardless of the distance.”
Now imagine a long distance couple using this feature, whilst both being able to see each other’s photorealistic avatars inside the headset.
It’s difficult to predict exactly how Apple Vision Pro and VR/AR porn is going to play out, but we can confidently say that it’s going to be a wild and exciting ride over the next couple of years and beyond. Things are just never going to be the same again!
