Holodexxx is one of several innovative and ambitious crowdfunding campaigns that are trying to create photorealistic avatars of real models, for use in both VR and AR porn. Recently, they were in the news for having their VR porn game rejected by gaming distribution service Steam. Although still existing as a patreon project, that VR game is only one of a number of offerings they now have on sale for purchase individually. I haven’t yet tried any of their VR content yet, but this week I did purchase and download their mobile AR phone app, and that is what I’ll review here today.
The Holodexxx app has three main competitors in the still tiny world of AR porn – Naughty America Strip Club, BadoinkAR (still in demo mode), and the several years old AR Conk app that is available to download at VR Bangers. I’ve tried all of these three apps, so I’m very much in a position to compare the Holodexxx AR app to them. The actual page to purchase the app from is difficult to locate from the Holodexxx home page, and if you can find the correct link, you are taken to a different website – here it is at itch.io. The AR phone app is listed as being on sale at $2.99 (40% off), but elsewhere on the same page it states that the ‘Banned From Steam’ sale has ended. When I added the app to my shopping cart, I was informed that I was required to pay $5.95. This apparently included a mandatory $2 ‘tip’.
Downloading the app on to my phone was simple enough, although I had to change my settings to allow ‘unrecognized’ app downloads. Might be useful to remember to switch that setting back on after downloading. I was eager to get started, especially after being greeted by the site of no less than 9 different pornstars I could ‘spawn’ into my home environment. I decided upon Mia Malkova, one of my favorite actresses in VR porn, as my first taste of Holodexxx AR porn. I went into the corridor outside my apartment so I could grab the best screenshots (and avoid you guys seeing what a mess my place is). I first did the required scan of the floor in the corridor, as is the norm with AR apps in order that the AI can correctly position the object (in this case a pornstar) in relation to the floor or surface you wish them to appear on. Mia Malkova appeared in front of me! Although it wasn’t clear it was her or even a human immediately, as she was the size of a mouse. Among the controls at the bottom of the screen is an option to increase or decrease the size of the actress. So I obviously did this with Mia, scaling her up to a realistic height.
The first thing that I was struck by, was the fact that she doesn’t move. You can rotate her slowly in either direction, or you can move around her in order to see that she is in ‘3D’, but otherwise she is completely static. This is in contrast to the other three major AR apps that are out there, who all dance, strip, or simulate sexual motions.
The second problem was that the placement is very unrealistic. There is also a control at the bottom of the screen to move her up or down, but even pushing her as far down as I could, she clearly appeared to be floating at least a foot above the floor. Despite not moving, there is only an amorphous shadow cast below the girl, just sufficient enough to make it even more noticeable how inaccurate the placement is.
Perhaps these faults might be mitigated if the photorealism and resolution of the Holodexxx 3D girls was a big improvement on the other AR apps, in which the pornstars move. But truth be told, I didn’t notice much difference, if any, and if there was it’s likely only because she is static.

So the mobile AR phone app of Holodexxx is a little disappointing. As stated above, I haven’t tried any of their VR stuff yet, and it seems that their VR content is quite bit more advanced, allowing you to interact with the 3D scanned models in virtual environments. But taken on its own, then the AR app is a let down. It’s even some way behind the VR Conk app that has been around for over several years (and is still available at VR Bangers). You can also try the BadoinkAR app (still featuring only one girl) for free and without having to even download an app. Finally, a membership of Naughty America not only gives you access to their mobile AR porn app, but their virtual ‘strip club’, as well as all of their VR and 4K (2D) porn.
