The pace of growth in sex tech continued to increase in 2022, but in no area more than porn itself. That was thanks largely due to some explosive developments in AI text-to-image and video generation, leading to the real possibility that pretty soon, anyone with the right software will be able to produce at home just about any photo-realistic AI-generated porn that he desires. The older AI problem of ‘deepfake porn’ also continued to trouble legislators, with more countries passing laws against it, and the UK set to do so in 2023. Still, the sudden appearance of AI-generated porn, has made many realize, and fear, that sex and porn tech is progressing to the point at which legislators might not be able to keep up. And while virtual reality porn stagnated a bit with the lack of any major new next-generation VR headset, mixed reality porn started to take off – firstly through the discovery of crude ‘passthrough’ porn on the Quest 2, and then the real thing with the Quest Pro’s release in October.
2022 was quite a ride indeed, and you just know that 2023 is going to be even crazier. To keep you up-to-date and ready for what next year brings, here is a brief review of this one, month by month.

JANUARY – Handy At The CES And VR Bangers ‘Metaverse Intergration’
It’s rare for male sex tech to be demoed at the annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES), but this year the popular hatpic masturbator for VR porn – The Handy – was allowed to do so.
